This whole show is incredible, and I don't usually say that about early 80's Dead shows. The bass bombs during Big Railroad Blues are worth the price of admission!

I actually got a recording of this show not long after the actual performance and remember being blown away by the consistent energy throughout. It's great to see all the great reviews of this gem of show. It's one highlight after another. Just a tremendous performance!

The OTHER great show from this tour is the Seattle Center show a few days earlier. Phil bombs threatening to destroy my woofers. The filler on the Seattle show was Help>Slip> Franklin's from this Boise show. I agree, a great audience tape can trump a soundboard more often than not. This recording proves it. Now it is time to download...

The best audience copy so far, despite that there are already a lot of them. Sometimes the earliest one defies improvement. All soundboards & the matrix are too unbalanced in favor of the vocals to be listenable IMO.
Great show, with only a few little fizzles here & there.

Oh wow. I don't think I've ever heard or read anything about this show before, and I can't understand why not. It is outrageously good.

Check out Slipknot at around 7:00 for some tasty guitar, Bobby then teases something at the end of the phrases that sounds like a Victim chord, great stuff

At the time I thought the other audience sources sounded better, but I just listened to one of the other sources and wasn't all that impressed with the sound quality(I've been listening to a lot of 77' Betty boards lately,so maybe that's why.) Killer show though, right out of the gates, Jerry is on, and the show rocks! Top shelf show from the 80's. 5 star show, haven't checked the recording with my tube amp yet, going on memory that the vocals sounded muffled.

I am not that big on this era of GD, but recently have been checking out this tour and find it really was special.
The people who witnessed this "Franklin's Tower" that day must have been bouncing off the walls. It is smoking!

Subject: Fabulous show!
Subject: Fabulous show!
I was at this show and can attest to it's amazing qualities. 1983 was the first year I joined in on Dead tour, and I thought it was one mind blowing show after another! This summer tour was fabulous all around, with a great parking lot scene! What a great way to see the United States...wherever you go, all your friends are there, too. This show stands out for me in that we were successfully smuggled into the show by circuitous routes, led by a helpful college student, and once inside proceeded to dance our butts off in the hall, culminating in a Sugar Magnolia that wouldn't quit, the segue into Sunshine Daydream being so prolonged that everyone started looking at each other like what's going on? come on already, dancing, dancing until we were ready to drop and finally the pause, and the downbeat...dancing til the last note, and then we all did drop (and I'm not kidding, everyone in the hall where we were did fall to the floor) and we lay there writhing and moaning from the fantastic experience of it all...and as I lay there I thought: What a great show! And as people started coming out of the arena, and having to walk over all the prostrate dancers lying on the floor in the hall, I thought what it must look like to them, like "That was a great show, but what the heck went on here in the hall?" Nothing but a communal orgasmic experience, resulting in the inevitable aftermath...pure bliss.

Subject: Definitive Americana
Subject: Definitive Americana
We descended into Boise through wide valleys and rocky crags, newly born from our Montana cradles. The most beautiful girl in the world emerged sky-clad from the parking lot carnival and danced for the cops like Aphrodite-so sweet. They chased her into a receiving crowd and every square inch of their car was covered with stickers. The authorities then bowed their heads, for they knew they were a conquered people. Little did I know that later that evening we were going to treated to one of the finest examples of American music ever performed. 23 years later, this classic's power is unmatched. I'm going to go lite another candle for the Fat Man and, for the thousandth time crank this divine, amazing show and dance and cry myself to bliss. This is way beyond rating.

This is a truly remarkable show, I can't believe more people don't know about it.
Everyone is on fire throughout both sets, and it all rocks!
Jack Straw, TLEO, Big River(loving Brent's touches!), hell, its all great. The second set is out to "rip you an new one" from start to finish. Most certainly a classic!

Jack Straw hits, and the entire place lifts off, Jerry is on fire. Smoking Big River with some sick runs! Yep thats a HOT Minglewood! Again, great runs thru-out deal to close the first set. Smashing baby. Cant wait to tear into that second set. See you in a few!
H/S/F phil and jerry bring it to another level...jerrys improvised solos in franklins about 6:30 in are just outstanding and the energy carried thru to Estimated. 4 minutes into Throwin Stones they really started to funk it up! GDTRFB Jerry still on fire, with no signs of slowing down. Im going to leave it at that.
If you cant get into this show, you arent into the dead. One of my all time favorites for sure, hands down. Energy here is unmatched.

Phil sounds like he's improvising every second of the show. Some of the interactions between him and Jerry are absolutely perfect. The bass is real thick sounding too, you can really hear the many bombs. Jerry will not let go of his solos either. Best Minglewood ever. I need more '83.

Excellent show, smokes throughout. First set is perfect. A grate setlist that they play the hell out of. Big Railroad Blues has some amazing runs by Garcia. Minglewood might be Bobby at his all time finest on the slide he really rips. Of course there is Deal which smokes during this period. The Second Set is a Dream Set though. Nice and intricate Help>Slip>Franklins, Jerry on fire. Estimated>Eyes is delicious. 83 is a grate year. Good sound quality.

Why are people posting shows that have sector boundary errors? This is a tainted seed that should be fixed.
On the other hand this is one of the BEST sounding AUD tapes ever and the performance is awesome as well, disc 2 is soooo good.
